After a report by the Hellenic Geological and Mineral Research Authority (E.A.G.M.E.) drawn up following a visit by an EAGME team to the Andania water facilities, the special water mechanism (artesianism), which provide water with unique quality characteristics, was certified.

Artesian aquifer means that the water gushes to the surface through hydrostatic pressure after being trapped in underground water-tight aquifers, i.e. in sealed cavities, where the water does not communicate with the surface waters but is only supplied by the mountain mass.

In the case of Andania water, therefore, as can be seen from the conclusions of the study and can be seen in the diagram below by the hydrogeologists of the EAGME, the Diavolitsi-Nea Figaleia aquifer is protected by a layer >25 meters thick of impermeable clay-clay material, which completely isolates the underground from the surface waters.

Apart from the field work carried out in the shallow well (surface water) and in the bottling well (water underground aquifer), the absence of any hydraulic communication is confirmed both by the non-disturbance of the shallow well level during bottling and from the chemical analysis of both waters. For example, in the bottling well, Sodium shows a concentration of 12.2mg/l and Sulphate 16.4mg/l, while in the shallows the values are respectively 22.5 and 52.4.

Finally, regarding the surplus value of the product, as the Charitsi family points out, this recognition is very important not so much for the Greek consumer public, in which the quality difference of artesian water is not so well known, but because it opens the way for exports since the artesian waters on the shelf of many European supermarkets sell up to 6 times more than the rest bottled waters.
